Design & optimization

For design and optimization of wind turbines, LAC engineering provides optimization of blades and rotor design and load reducing control schemes.

Blade

Cost optimized blade and rotor design
Blade dynamics contribute significantly to the global turbine dynamics, so stiffness and mass distribution of the blade must be analyzed through an integrated approach – to avoid aero-elastic resonance/instability and to maximize the aero-elastic damping throughout the operational regime of the turbine.

Since some uncertainty on e.g. theoretical values of stall limit and max will exist, a sensitivity study is made in respect of stability, loads and power yield in order to tailor the blade and turbine dynamics towards the most rational design.

Load reducing control schemes

• Active tower damping different approaches based on different sensors – comes as add-on to
  existing controller
• Tilt/Yaw control and individual blade control – also possibly to use as add-on to existing controller
• Model-based control with multi objective purpose (under preparation)
